Not heard anything but he may well be pretty sore and discombobulated still.

Go Tam!

Just had an email reply from Tam.

"Sorry I haven't been proactive in keeping you all informed, but recovery has been slow and at times difficult.

I am back home now,the operation went well I think, pancreas and spleen removed. They salvaged enough islet cells from my pancreas and injected them into my liver to see if they will produce insulin,so fingers crossed.I was on the operating table for 13 hours,a long time!A Mr Addison from Leicester hospital came up to supervise the operation, pity,I never even met him.

My platelets remain high but I am on an aspirin a day for that also penicillin twice a day and Freon 25000.I am not yet going to commit to saying that the operation worked, but am hopeful,I have stopped Oramorph completely,a huge step.My GP and I are going to start lowering the Longtec dosage in the New Year.No one knows if I am diabetic yet, they will decide that when I have my first check up.I suspect I might be,sugars haven't been too high or too low.

The worst part of my recovery is my insides, very unsettled and queasy.I can only eat small portions at the moment,I lost 10kg in weight during my stay in hospital, have spoke to my dietician and will see her in the New Year.

Anyway Stu,thanks for getting in touch,if you don't mind would you let everyone know how I am doing and I always think of them.I wish yourself and everyone a Merry Christmas and a healthy New Year.Let them know to try and not get disheartened, there is help out there. Thanks for all the great work everyone on the site does."

Good news, :D

Excellent 👍, it is serious surgery and recovery can be arduous, you have done the hard bit Tam and wish you a good if not speedy recovery, take care.

Pleased to hear that you are doing okay after the surgery, they are a lovely team in Edinburgh. I am still here because of them.
Happy Christmas to you and a better 2018.

Good to hear how Tam is and at least he is on the long road to recovery now. I hope he continues to go from strength to strength and can feel the benefits soon.
