I'd second that, Richard, this forum has been a lifeline.

I'm finding the no alcohol tough for the first time since I was diagnosed in January. Elder daughter and I usually quaff a few baileys coffees etc on Christmas Eve. I've had to make do with scoffing a box of dark chocolate mints (surprisingly low fat) whilst singing descants very loudly to the midnight mass on TV. That worked quite well as a substitute but daughter was making wincing faces! I cannot imagine why :D

A very, very happy Christmas to you all. Wishing you all laughter and contentment.

Well done on the no alcohol Sarah - it’s not easy.

I always think if you give it up from choice that’s a bit easier but if you give up up because you have no choice it just makes it harder.

I’m like you, I love doing descants. Nobody else likes me doing them for some strange reason   .

I was happy watching Mary Poppins yesterday for the zillionth time and singing along with gusto. Alan didn’t seem to appreciate my joy at all   .

He’s lucky the Sound of Music hasn’t been on (or if it has I’ve missed it  ). I can belt out those songs for England I kid you not! :D :D .

Hugs

Jane 😘

The Sound of Music is on one of the Sky cinema channels as I type this. Not watching it, of course, it’s truly horrible. The acting is terrible, the tricksy camera work in the mountains looks like a holiday advert, and the songs are twee. And quite a few are post-dubbed with folk who can sing. And a few Nazis thrown in for authenticity.

I don’t like it, by the way. :D

Why that is sacrilege Mike! You don’t like the Sound of Music?

I LOVE it! Yes it’s dated but it’s a fab film - not very true to life by the way   .

hugs

I finally got my copy of Mary Poppins after asking for 3 years. I definitely need to put Sound of Music on the list...

Merry Christmas a bit late!!!

Oh my goodness yes. I've seen it twice and am trying to persuade anyone to go with me again. I've downloaded the album. I've preordered the sheet music book but grrrr grrrr it isn't released yet which makes no sense as the music is out there on all the fully legal websites but at £9.99 a song! No wonder there are so many illegal downloads of sheet music!

My piano pupils all want to learn it NOW but Amazon at last tells me the book is released on 10th Feb so let's hope they haven't all moved on to the next craze by then
