Re: Life as a GP practice manager

Poor beggars! And indeed something I worry about :( . However, amazingly Marilyn they will cope. GP practices deal with crises on a relatively regular basis and you would be astonished at how resilient we all are. I am always so proud of our practice team that in times of crisis we all pull together...

Re: Alan's blog........

Jane thanks Marilyn for her empathy. Certainly being without the interwebbie was bad, but talking to Alan (whose blog this is) was a real bad do! Jane did however find out that he likes two spoons of sugar in his tea which she didn't know about  . This made Jane realise how often...

Re: Drs

That's appalling Paul! The nurses should not be working without the supervision of a GP on the premises anyway. They should (as the norm) have a designated duty doctor every day who has to stay until the surgery closes regardless of what time that is. Very poor. I would complain to the practice mana...

Re: Life as a GP practice manager

I'm sure a lot of 'old wive's tales' are proving to be correct. They are based on experience over many years rather than science. I always have the bedroom window open at night - the only time it gets shut is if it's blowing a gale! I feel claustrophobic if the window is shut   . More hi...

Re: Alan's blog........

Jane apologises to her reader. Jane has had computer connectivity problems due to some nob cutting through something somewhere that affected the whole estate where Jane lives. Jane thought her life had come to an end   . Jane has been bereft of computer wizardry and has been forced to ...

Re: Life as a GP practice manager

Weary, weary, weary! I've spoken to two retired GPs this week who are our patients and were complaining -one about the inability to get through on the phone and the other to say that we should have the windows open in reception to encourage airflow. The first one and I became 'best friends' during t...

Re: Is This Irony?

Hi Andy I'm so very sorry to hear about your son. I know diabetes is not the worst diagnosis you can have but it's pretty devastating in one so young. He will need a grieving period to get his head around it but no doubt with the resilience of the young he will come out the other side and realise it...

Re: Life as a GP practice manager

And amongst all the general madness last week we had a call from a patient asking for medication. The patient is a man but the caller was evidently a woman trying to put on a deeper voice   . The patient has had to ask his pharmacy to only give his prescriptions to him because his sist...

So Alan is a swinger        And yes Alan (whose blog this is) may well be a swinger....

Re: Life as a GP practice manager

So my week back at work after a week off. And WHAT a week! It was just manic. Mainly from the sheer volume of work created by COVID and my week off (240 emails which I still haven't got through a week later). But also from trying to deal with patients who are unhappy about not being able to get thro...

Re: Chinese Virus

Looks like we are heading for further restrictions. They are talking about shutting pubs from Wednesday. To be fair the restrictions have minimal impact on Alan and me but I can understand the youngsters getting really twitched and fed up with them. I am lucky that I am a key worker so have worked t...
