Re: Not me this time.

The trouble with men, by and large, and I include myself, is that admission of some degree of inability to hunt and gather is a sign of failure. That’s been largely knocked out of me lately, as I become more dependent on devices and adaptations to even get around the house. And get showered and dres...

Re: Life as a GP practice manager

As you quite rightly say, such an “inspection” on the telephone isn’t an inspection. The CQC, of course, take money from the NHS that could be used on something meaningful. As do CCGs, and the stupid hospital electronic appointment system. As a result of these insane “improvements” there are now 50%...

Re: Life as a GP practice manager

Interesting to hear the receptionist response to the patient with phantosmia (smelling things that aren’t there). Possible causes: sinus infection, nasal polyps, a precursor to migraine attacks and epileptic fits, and many other causes, including (very rarely) brain tumours. All are treated by docto...

A diagnosis at last...

As you all know, I’ve been growing a motor neuropathy for about four years, with me ending up on four wheels instead of two feet. Well, all neurological diagnoses take time to Spam/VIRUS. I knew I didn’t have MND because I’m still alive - Motor Neurone Disease finishes you off in a couple years max....

Avoiding Black Friday the hard way

I spent the day before Black Friday feeling dizzy and unwell. Black Friday was persistent vomiting day (though my Blood Glucose was normal.) Saturday morning confused, disorientated and still dry vomiting, or vomiting back the sips of water, and the BG took off. Out of range. Paramedics blue lighted...

Re: Life as a GP practice manager

Not in Scotland, Jane. You talk about the “UK”. In Scotland the vaccination rate is safely around the 95% level. No coercion, just common sense. Enforcement would make no difference in Scotland

Re: Hello again

Hi Bob, welcome back. I had been wondering where you were hiding. Sorry to hear the bad news. But you can make your life easier - you can apply for a stairlift, 80% paid for, if you apply to the local council. And have a look at electric wheelchairs, which can have oxygen bottle carriers appended so...
