Re: Not me this time.

Easier said than done!

I remember Alan saying to me after his operation "If you ask me one more time if I'm feeling okay, I won't be responsible for my actions!"

Hugs

Re: Life as a GP practice manager

A couple of weeks ago I received a call from the CQC (Care Quality Commission) who oversee the quality of care in GP practices. They notified me of the date of our next inspection which is February 6th. They can remove licence to practice if the surgery is not up to standard so it's a biggy. Our las...

Re: Cooking meat

Aw! Pigs! :D :D :D We have used farm shops in the past and were well impressed. I remember we got some pork and stilton sausages from one. Oh! they were to die for! On second thoughts, the pig did    . When I say I love pigs i genuinely do. But equally if we didn't eat them then there...

Re: After 13 yrs i have a pancreas specialist appt

Hi Helen Your post saddens me. I work in a GP practice and I can honestly say that our GPs would deal with you appropriately. When Alan, my husband, was first diagnosed with CP his GP was obviously not sure of how to treat him. When we went back two weeks later he did. He had investigated it and beca...

Re: Not me this time.

Oh Marilyn! I'm so sorry to hear of your worries :( . I know when it was agreed that Alan could have surgery for his panc we were suddenly terrified even though it was what we wanted. It's just a horrible time and like you say, you are in limbo until you get a date. The worst bit for you two is that...

  Paul's are always a problem in Jane's experience  . And Paul is absolutely correct about the earth moving in Stockton. Sadly the earth didn't move for Jane given that the earthquake was at 6am and Jane was indulging in some much-required beauty sleep. Alan (whose blog this is) app...

Re: Cooking meat

Oooh Helen! I would love to have been a pig farmer! I absolutely LOVE pigs, especially the piglets! I would genuinely love a micro-pig as a pet if such a thing really existed! Don't worry about Alan - he gets these ideas in his head and if it's something that bothers me I will challenge it, but as a...

Re: After 13 yrs i have a pancreas specialist appt

Hi Helen Your GP does not sound great to be honest. Pancreatic problems are notoriously difficult to diagnose which is why your GP should have at least sent you to a specialist sooner in order to rule it out if nothing else. The whole point of the system is that if a GP feels that they are not getti...

Re: Life as a GP practice manager

So this week has been about meetings! I had meetings that ended up needing further meetings, and them some more meetings to arrange a meeting and then a meeting that people turned up for that I had forgotten all about due to the number of other meetings that I had attended  . Sadly as a pract...

Re: Alan's blog........

This week it's Jane's VERY intelligent daughter and son in law's turn to go abroad. They have gone to Norway. Jane has no idea why anybody would want to go anywhere that wasn't hot for a holiday  . What's wrong with Spain? Well plenty apparently if you watch Benidorm on the TV! In fact Jane ha...

Re: Cooking meat

I can eat medium steak but cannot under any circumstances consider eating any other meat not cooked through. It's not even about the potential parasites it just looks awful! We are not eating pork at the moment because Alan watched a programme on pigs and suddenly felt sorry for them  . Doesn'...

Re: After 13 yrs i have a pancreas specialist appt

Brilliant news Helen! I know many years ago my husband Alan who is the CP sufferer ended up seeing a panc specialist as a result of my joining this forum. He had been under a gastro consultant up until then. The difference was amazing and at last we felt like we were talking to somebody who understo...
