Re: Life as a GP practice manager
Well done Jane and her team! I've got a couple of friends who are nurses. One in a hospital dealing with patients who have Covid - she was ill from her first injection (not sure which flavour). Another is a nurse in a GP surgery and they have received the first batch of vaccines. She's been working ...

Re: Bank scam
Wow Andy! Nice one! I worry about my mum who is 90, pretty deaf and very suggestible. Luckily though where money is concerned she is quite astute   . But older people will get scammed. These guys must be making a decent living or they wouldn't keep going. I suspect a lot more people are g...

Re: Bank scam
If I'm not busy then I like to waste the scammers time. Over the holiday period, I spent 30 minutes telling someone who rang to enquire about my recent car accident all about the chaos caused by the loose elephant in my street. They were very interested but unfortunately there was a problem on the l...

Re: Bank scam
BT Openreach seems to be a leaky security company. I had genuine problems with my broadband, phoned the ever helpful Plusnet who arranged for an Openreach engineer to call, who fixed everything. Since then, I’ve had an array of calls, all hilariously amateurish, to tell me that my internet service ...

Thanks Jane
He is determined. Unfortunately, he has my control freak nature so he has to learn to be comfortable feeling uncomfortable.
Take care

Re: Is This Irony?
Yes, time has flown by and a lot has happened since my op - moved house, completely renovated it, changed job, been promoted 3 times. As you say, i'm much better off now than I was before - though a lot more tired. I've been able to give him lots of advice and he's doing really well - just the usual...

Is This Irony?
Hi everyone On the 26 September, I 'celebrated' the 5 year anniversary of my TP. The same day I had to drive my 28 year old son to A&E knowing he was going to be diagnosed as type 1 diabetic which duly happened. Irony? Misfortune? Coincidence or Hereditary? 2020 - the year that just keeps on giving....

Re: Bank scam
I don't know if it is possible with mobiles but I never risk it. I recently reported a broadband problem which had to be passed on to BT Openreach to fix (I'm not with BT). Within 20 minutes I received a phone call from someone pretending to be from my ISP basically trying to convince me the problem...

Re: Bank scam
It's very easy to spoof a phone number. Every 0800 number you dial has a 'real' number underneath. My basic rule is if I didn't initiate the call then I don't give any personal details or agree to anything. Also, if they suggest you call on a known number then always use a different phone - otherwis...

Re: Chinese Virus
I need a podiatrist. The advantage of having a podiatrist calling round is (a) cutting my toenails, because I can’t reach them because of neurological problems and (b) she can do routine diabetic neuropathy checks, not that have any diabetes complications. Mind you, it’s difficult doing that job an...

Re: Life as a GP practice manager
Hi Jane I've got to pick you up on one point, specifically We are not a hotel! We cannot say "and what time and day would you like your appointment?". If you need to see a doctor then you will find the time to do so. It may not be convenient but if you are ill then you make it. This may sound harsh ...

Re: Hopefully we are back
Wow, I've been on holiday and wasn't aware the attack had been so bad. Well done for bringing it back. The hackers may have been after email addresses and passwords. If you use the same password for your email or other accounts - which is bad practice anyway - then you should change them immediately...
